This 1935 Case RC was my first restoration project. I have
owned this tractor since I was 12 years old. My uncle, dad, and
granddad put this tractor together for me so I could antique tractor
pull with it. It pulled in the 3000 lb class against untyled Bs,
F12 and F14 Farmalls, and RC Allis Chalmers. Although I didn't
pull it too many times, it was competive and brought home a trophy at
every pull. Eventually, everyone started hopping up their
tractors up and this stock RC was too underpowered so I quit pulling
it. The tractor set for several years as I went through
high school and college. Eventually, I owned my own house and had
a place to store it again. The tractor was never restored
originally so I went ahead and fixed all the little things that was
wrong with it and completed it in 1999.
There were only 346 RCs built in 1935 and there are several differences
between a 1935 and later models, so this tractor is fairly rare.
Here is me driving the tractor in a parade in Garden Grove, IA
somewhere around 1981. This was the first time the tractor
was completed.
I got the tractor at my place in 1998, made it run again and displayed
it at the Marshalltown, IA show.
I started the restoration in 1999 and completed it in time to display
it at the Marshalltown show that year. I put a set of cast wheels
on it, 3 new tires, a new radiator core, a new exhaust manifold and
several other parts in order to get it to look good and run reliably.
